Gillibrand is Now Providing Resolution Towards Lack of Nurses

Last Tuesday, it was announced to address the nursing shortage in the country especially in New York State. In which, it was found out that there are only fewer nurses present in per capital region in the country. The entire plan of the government is to focus towards increasing the faculty and learners enrollment of nurse training programs. Aside of that, provides an incentives for the nurse practitioners and health care giver in order to serve the underprivileged areas. These plans also call the attention for more investment for long term development for the nursing work force. Currently, it was found out that Capital Region vacancy rate for the nursing career jobs is only 8.2 percent. Based on the Gilibrand’s office that there are about 2,263 nurses will be needed for over the next 10 years to come in order to meet the demand and need of the society. In general setting, the whole state of New York is projected to need about an additional 105,739 nurses by this coming 2020. Gilibrand stated that she is now responding to the need of the different nursing schools across New York rather that includes the limited physical space and lack of instructor work force.

In order to provide resolution towards increasing the nursing work force in the country, Gilibrand stated of delivering the right mixture of incentives and resources in order to ensure that every corner of New York got the right number of nursing workforce that will highly enables to provide quality care towards children and families over the next decade. On the other side, in order to increase the nursing faculty Gilibrand will continually work on establishing a graduate degree loan repayment program for nurses who will becoming a nursing school faculty members through the Nurses Higher Education Loan Repayment Act. According to Gilibrand’s office that salaries for the faculty can increase up to 15% less that to nurses who are still practicing in the field. As a result, shortage of nurse’s instructor occurs.

With these plans, Gilibrand will be co sponsoring the Nurse Education, Expansion and Development Act of the year 2009 that would entirely provide educational program grants towards the different nursing schools in the country that would create and implement the plans of expansion of several educational opportunities of new nurses. With that, Gilibrand’s plan also includes the advocacy of incentive that will entirely attract the nurse practitioners and other health care providers towards the underprivileged areas which an effort that already provides being undertaken through the president’s economic recovery plan that includes the $300 million for National Health Service Corps. Gilibrand will also push towards $215 million for the nursing work force development funds toward the next year’s budget towards continuing education of the registered nurses faculty nurses and as well the researchers.
