A recent view from the different nursing administration have stated about the occurrence of nurses shortage 10 years from now if the numbers of nursing teachers will remain in a small percentage. Since, this is the major problem nursing faces. The lack of teachers in the nursing schools really affects the status of the nursing field in the country. First, it can’t provide a quality nursing educational training to its learners. As a result, it will disappoint lots of learners to attain an excellent teaching from their teachers whom they look up that could somehow decrease the numbers of its enrollees. Second point to put into consideration, if theirs only fewer nursing teachers available in the country it loses the opportunity to cater a vast number of nursing enrollees. As a result, a decrease of nursing students will occur. Since, there are no enough teachers who can cater them for educational excellence. So it’s really important to ponder these things. Considering the important role that nursing teachers do in the nursing schools with the action of increasing their numbers will take a greater difference for the future of the healthcare system in the country.
According to the Dean of the University of Washington, Marla Salmon said that lack of quality nursing education is already occurring that serves a hindrance for several nursing applicants are qualified upon applying a nursing career jobs in the different healthcare institutions in the country. Salmon also stated that the nursing education is very much in crises at this point of time because of lack of teachers who will be teaching them. Although, there are several young individuals who willingly enrolled to this nursing course but just being hinder by the limitation of enrollees that being accepted by the different nursing schools of the country. Since, they based on the nursing teachers that are also available in their nursing schools. Although, nursing bachelor degree is another option for this nursing deterioration but still a campus education teaching especially for nursing course is quite an advantage and provides a more quality training in this career field.
Indeed, not enough nursing teacher staffs will lead to a less attainment of quality education and less opportunity to increase numbers of registered nurses that will join the nursing team in healthcare trade of the country here in United States.
This is a good story about how people in Sioux City appreciate the nice contribution of professional nurses in the community, so that even students also learn to reciprocate the nurses’ good deeds, by simply making Valentine cards for them as well as other people inside the nursing homes.
Just as the day of hearts is approaching, students of Blessed Sacrament Religious Education Program (BSRE) have already crafted and made Valentine cards they would give to the nurses in nursing homes located in their county. Other private schools in the county also have this kind of project during Valentine’s Day.
Pat Walsh, director for the Catholic Church said they’ve been into this card making project for the last ten years. It started as part of the Peace and Justice Committee outreach program until they brought it to the religious students. Walsh is happy this activity has become a tradition to give appreciation to the nurses and other organizations that are giving their best for the health care needs of many people in the community.
Michele Markham, an education instructor also said the nursing home residents admire this activity and treasure the Valentine’s Day celebration because they always receive love cards from students who also appreciate their contribution to society. She said the nurses will receive more during the Valentine’s Day celebration on February 14, 2009.
Brittney Greiner, a 9-year-old kid is also happy that she was one of those lucky students who will give love cards to the residents in the nursing homes. She said it’s really a great honor to part of the religious students involve in this 10-year old project. She said she hopes to contribute at least three cards. This is even a good career orientation for the students as many of them may have discovered their art skills and creativity.
Her younger sister, Jamie, is also part of the project. She also prepared a large red heart design for her card and hopes to finish coloring it with crayons and other designs to make it look appealing to the receiver. What is amazing form her design is that when someone opens the card the heart is also open.
There are about 30 people in the nursing homes and the items handcrafted by the kids would be given to these people. The cards are not individually addressed but the recipients would know they will come from the students of the Blessed Sacrament Religious Education.
