In which, $ 1.9 million of grant was been awarded by the Allied Health Department last January 2007 that will cover for three years of nursing education. This funding that been received by the school was entirely to be use in order to increase the healthcare learners and future healthcare or nurses in the country. According to Janelle Oliver which is the nurse and CBJT project specialist of the country, she said that the prime goal of this funding is to increase the registered nurse workforce in the country.

She said that this nursing profession provides security and lost of flexibility than people usually expected about nursing career. Since, those individuals who choose to take a nursing profession can take the option to work as a nursing teacher, become a part time nurse in the healthcare institution or hospitals, or just work in the nursing homes, clinics and other healthcare agencies. As of now, the United States Department of Labor predicts that there will be about 1 million new sets of job employment openings for the registered nurses by this 2010 especially that it’s been projected that there will be about 27 % shortage of registered nurses that will occur in Southwest Kansas. If this shortage will not be address immediately, it will be predicted that around 1.4 million of registered nurses will be needed by the 2014 with its average wage as $ 38,000.
