One of the best repayment programs for nurses today is the NELRP, an acronym for Nursing Education Loan Repayment Program. This very competitive program repays at least 60 percent of the registered nurses’ loan balance which qualifies for the program, in exchange for the service within two years which is already considered in a facility in critical shortage. The program participants may be considered to work a third year plus 25 percent additional for the loan balance that also qualifies.

NELRP is authorized by the Public Health Service Act based on Section 846 to assist in performing retention as well as recruitment of professional nurses that are serving underserved communities.

The program for registered nurses is now applied by many professionals as the student loan repayment is up to 60 percent of the loan balance that qualify. This means this is now one of the very effective programs for nursing professionals which have problems on repayment of their students loans while still in college. It is also an answer to the problems which is long been kept by professionals because of no available programs which can help them solve their loan repayment problems.

Registered nurses eligible to apply for the NELRP should meet the following requirements:

1. Graduate of a baccalaureate or associate degree in nursing from an accredited state’s school of nursing.
2. Have a loan in college which can qualify for the program leading to a diploma in nursing education
3. Finished a nursing program in which the loan balance applies
4. Should be a US citizen, national who resides in the US
5. Should be employed full time in a facility considered on critical shortage
6. Should be employed in a facility considered as non-profit
7. Have a permanent nursing license in the US as registered nurse especially at the state he wants to practice profession.
8. Submitted an application for NELRP and also signed the NELRP contract, forms and other documentation required.
