The nursing shortage in the United States has been continually increasing. This situation is very alarming since nurses have obtained a significant role in the society. Their presence is really important in promoting health care system to every individual. As well, their presences are also important in the medical field. With the importance of their role, the created several strategies in order to counter act this situation. The educational government of the United States together with some concern citizens and nursing institution or nursing school takes more focus of increasing the numbers of nursing students through promoting the nursing course to different high schools students of several places in the United States. One of the best strategies of promoting the nursing degree courses is through offering different scholarship for individuals who will take up a nursing degree courses. Just like the case in South California, where in around 67 nursing students of 27 colleges in that state will receive a scholarship fund that will support their educational nursing career education. The total amount of this scholarship fund will be $150,500. The scholarship fund was given by Kaiser Permanente institution. Kaiser Permanente is one of the leading integrated health plans and largest nursing employers in California. Kaiser Permanente’s have been given much support upon increasing the population rate of the nursing employees in United States especially in California area. As it was reported, around $4 million dollars have been release annually in order to support the educational needs of some nursing students. These $4 million dollars will be allotted for the Nursing Pathways, nursing scholarship, nursing loans, nursing career builder, and student nurse grant.

The scholarship programs of Kaiser Permanente have several categorical amounts. The scholarship amounts of $1,000 to $2,500 are to be given to the selected nursing students who will be pursuing the nursing degree. The nursing students who have qualified in this scholarship program have been chosen based on the examination that were conducted to them. As well, it was also base on their GPA rate in their previous educational status. To individuals who will be pursuing the nursing degree, the required academic excellence rate base on the GPA is a minimum of 3.9. While in the graduate or doctoral studies the GPA rate is 3.0. Usually, this can be applicable to the registered nurse who wants to continue their nursing studies. Financial status of the family is also the bases in giving a scholarship. As well, Kaiser Permanente will also give an additional $1,000 scholarship nursing awardees affiliated in their institution.

As well, Kaiser Permanente will grant $5,000 scholarships to their selected employees. These scholarship program are given to the employees who have exercise the qualities of commitment in leading the nursing system, demonstrate nursing knowledge, perform excellence in the nursing field and embody the spirit of service to others and to the Kaiser Permanente institution. Kaiser Permanente institution is very much helpful upon increasing and strengthening the nursing team and work force through giving different nursing scholarship.
